Andrew Olsen is the bar manager at Bluestem. A Missouri native, Andrew grew up on a small farm south of Belton. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, he began his career at Houston’s on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. His work at The Drum Room and Tannin Wine Bar allowed him to hone in on his craft and gain an in-depth knowledge of wine and the application of food and drink. In the summer of 2014, Olsen joined Howard Hanna and Ryan Maybee at The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange. This position sharpened his customer service skills and allowed him to further develop his unique and inventive style. At Bluestem, Olsen showcases his creativity with an innovative cocktail menu. Each of his recipes is created with a background story from his cocktail experiences including time spent in Boston. Olsen enjoys sharing these stories with guests at Bluestem, blending history and personal experience in perfect complement to the Garrelts’ Midwestern cuisine.
